We love Weever Apps, a great Ontario start-up working out of the Hamilton regional innovation centre, Innovation Factory. They are revolutionizing the way that companies build apps. Their technology allows users to build their own Mobile apps at a fraction of the time and cost. Recently Weever Apps made the news securing a US patent for their tech to convert web pages into mobile apps. Mobile is huge! And it’s great to see this young Hamilton company leading the way. Landing the patent means their technology is considered a genuine innovation or advance over what was done before. This has helped them attract 3 new investors who will help fund expansion from the current 13 employees, as they continue to grow and create new jobs.

Customers in 65 countries have built 22,000 apps using Weever’s patented software. Their clients include CFL Players’ Association, London Life and World Vision. Co-founder Steve McBride shares with us their experience helping the CFLPA tackle a big problem.

The CFLPA is committed to connecting with the player community in a meaningful way and providing opportunities to further enhance player careers, both on and off the field” explained Mike Morreale President of the CFLPA.

This was the vision and goal of the CFLPA: to address the needs of their players, not only as athletes but also as individuals; to provide them with long-term success on and off the field.  The CFLPA felt there was a communication gap between themselves and their players, and after conducting a study they realized that only 10% of players were actually utilizing their existing website.  The communication between the association and the 500+ players had to be improved.

They turned to us at Weever Apps to help solve the problem. To accomplish this, a mobile app integrating DocuSign was developed providing a central hub for all things player related.  The app keeps players up-to-date with all relevant information.  Providing easy access to calendar of events, pensions, player deals, legal, medical, post-player career success, collective bargaining agreements etc., while incorporating e-signatures.  Current players and their agents, CFL alumni, staff and fans use the app.

Now players can quickly and easily access the information they need, anywhere, anytime.  Players can instantly sign critical documents right on their phone or tablet, such as membership cards, medical forms and waivers.  This feature is made possible by Weever Apps integration with DocuSign.

The mobile app provides a secure login system for each group within the association — players, agents, alumni, staff and sponsors.  With the secure login each group accesses the information that is specific to them.  This also allows the staff to send push notifications to individual groups for better communication and permits sponsors access to the administration area where they can post deals for the users of the app.

Weever Apps has created a mobile app platform that professional sports leagues and enterprise businesses across the globe can utilize to make their organization more efficient and profitable.
